In 2007 Cub Crafters brought their "Carbon Cub". It's a 220 HP super Cub that weighs 250-300 pounds less than any other Cub. The three pictures here show a 19 foot takeoff! They were also able to do a short field landing of 53 feet!

There is always a good crowd, no matter what the weather is. There were approximately 110 airplanes on the ramp. Come on out. Fly or drive, it's worth the trip. It's a good time. If you don't feel like competing in the short take off and landging contest, there are seminars, and a Poker Run.

The rules for the competition are published on our website at www.valdezalaska.org in the events folder.

We expect the top planes and pilots from the Northwest to be attending and competing at this years event and the demonstration of piloting and performance of bush planes will be unmatched anywhere in the United States.

For those planning to be in town, John Davis and Sue have once again volunteered their yard & home for an EAA picnic. The chapter will supply hamburgers and hot dogs and the fixings to go with them along with a limited amount of beverages.

Deserts and side dishes would be appreciated if you come and a folding chair or two is a good idea. We have an order in for fine Summer weather and as a precaution, I am bringing a 55 gallon drum of wind and rain remover.

Rob Stapleton is hosting a picnic at his hangar at Birchwood Airport. The chapter will supply hamburgers and hot dogs and the fixings to go with them along with a limited amount of beverages.

Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 6 to 10 PM - (unofficial) Holiday Party

Once again, Chuck May is having a holiday party, and all EAA members and their spouses are invited. This is not an official EAA function. It is a lot of fun. If you haven't seen Chuck since September, it's a perfect opportunity to congratulate him on the completion and the first flights of his RV-7A.
